School stabbings prompt safety review across Wales

School stabbings prompt safety review across Wales

Responding to the news that school safety procedures are being reviewed across Wales after two teachers and a pupil were stabbed, Tom Giffard MS, Shadow Education Minister, said:

“After the shocking news last week at Ysgol Dyffryn Amman, a review of safety procedures by councils is a sensible and welcome move.

“Schools should be a place of safety, learning and discovery. It is deeply sad and distressing that such a violent incident took place.

“I hope that headteachers and schools react positively to the recommended review process, to ensure pupils feel safe and protected within our schools.”

RCT anti-bullying policy statement challenging bullying across Rhondda Cynon Taf remains a key priority. Schools are uniquely placed to enable our learners to develop as ethical, healthy, confident and ambitious individuals. We want our schools to be places where our learners feel happy and safe.
