Fifth ‘black alert’ in as many months in one Welsh hospital

Responding to news that one of Wales’ largest accident and emergency hospitals has declared another ‘Black Alert’, Russell George MS, Shadow Health Minister, said:

“It is deeply concerning that less than two days after reports of  ‘extreme pressures’ in A&E departments across West Wales, that we are seeing another black alert at Morriston Hospital.

“Our Welsh NHS is under immense pressure thanks to 25 years of Labour’s under-resourcing, the extreme difficulties faced by Morriston Hospital are just the tip of the iceberg.

“The Labour Government would rather spend £120 million sending 36 more politicians to Cardiff Bay instead of investing in our health service to support hospitals across Wales.”
