Abnormal load movement to transport electrical power station equipment from the Baverstock area to Hirwaun.

Abnormal load movement to transport electrical power station equipment from the Baverstock area to Hirwaun.

Closures of parts of the A449, A40 and A465 carriageways will be required.

Consider using an alternative route and allow extra travel time.

At times there will be rolling roadblocks by South Wales Police on the abnormal load route and the vehicle load will be travelling between 5-15mph.

Between 01:15 and 05:45 on Tuesday 27 February 2024, the abnormal load will travel from the A465 at Dowlais top, via the A4060, through side roads in Merthyr Tydfil and onto the A470.

On Wednesday 28 February, between 20:15 and 23:00 it will travel west on the A465 to the Baverstock area.

We will provide more information on the next stage of the movement from the Baverstock area closer to the time.

Please note that adverse weather may affect the schedule.

For queries about the movement of the abnormal loads outside of the roadworks, please refer to Traffic Wales, Merthyr Tydfil CBC and RCT CBC. See also A449, A40 & A465 Abnormal load movement | Traffic Wales
