Town Hall ticking time bomb across Wales says Rowlands
Responding to Welsh council debt, Sam Rowlands MS, Shadow Minister for Local Government, said:
“Debt-ridden councils across Wales could be ticking time bombs unless funding is made more sustainable.
“Councils trying to go above and beyond for residents are being pushed into massive levels of debt as the Labour Government expects more and more from them without giving them fair funding.
“Unless the funding model is reformed, we will see budgets balanced on the backs of hard-pressed residents and potentially even section 114 notices.”
