Labour begins backpedalling on blanket 20mph speed limit

Responding to Vaughan Gething promising a review of the controversial 20mph blanket policy, Natasha Asghar MS, Shadow Transport Minister, said:

“Labour have continued with their blanket 20mph policy and chosen to ignore the Welsh public from day one.

“The Welsh public are rejecting this policy wholesale and want to see it reversed. Even though Vaughan’s promised a review, he’s still refused to scrap it. He might be making the right noises in a bid to drum up support for his leadership campaign, but the reality is he voted this through and supports it.

“The only way to get this blanket 20mph speed limit scrapped is a vote for Welsh Conservatives.”

Welsh Government cannot extend pay offer to striking junior doctors Health Minister Eluned Morgan says she understands the strength of feeling and also supports the right to strike. But she says the 5% pay increase is at the limits of what the Welsh government can offer.
