Access to Prince Charles Hospital and Weekend Road Closure on the A465

Access to Prince Charles Hospital and Weekend Road Closure on the A465

As part of the ongoing construction works the following weekend closure is required on the A465 between Cefn Coed (Junction with A470 roundabout) and Dowlais:

Friday 12 January from 20:00hrs until 06:00hrs on Monday 15 January 2023.

During the closure we will be installing new pre-cast concrete deck sections as part of the widening of Taf Fechan Viaduct. Other work will also take place throughout the area to maximise the use of the closure time.

This closure is required to undertake work that cannot be safely completed whilst the road is open or under traffic management.

For the A465 closure, the following diversion route will be in place:    www.a465.org/CefnDowlaisDiversionPC

In addition, please note:

As High Street Bridge in Cefn Coed is now open to traffic these changes to the road layout in the area will be made from 20:00hrs on Friday 12 January 2024:

Access on and off the A465 from Grawen Lane will permanently end. Access will then be from the A4054.

Access on and off the A465 from Lower Vaynor Road will permanently end. Access will then be from the A4054 (High Street, Cefn Coed).

Access to Prince Charles Hospital from the A465 will be from the temporary roundabout at Pant, to join Gurnos ring road.

We apologise for any inconvenience the weekend closure may cause and thank you for your continued support.
