Monmouthshire council tax rise is a sign of things to come
Responding to Monmouthshire Council’s proposed council tax rise, Andrew RT Davies MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives said:
“The slated council tax rise in Monmouthshire is a sign of things to come for residents across Wales.
“Council tax has nearly tripled in Wales over the last twenty years and is putting undue pressure on household budgets during a cost of living crisis.
“Local authorities should make use of their reserve funding before tapping up hard-pressed taxpayers for more cash.”
Peter Fox MS, Senedd Member for Monmouth, added:
“As a once-leader of Monmouthshire County Council, I am fully aware of the pressures that the council is under as a result of poor funding from the Welsh Labour Government, however, these council tax rises are unconscionable.
“Monmouthshire residents are getting a raw deal from this Labour council, seeing services cut and council tax increase.
“Clearly they are out of touch with residents and the things that impact their daily lives.”
