Long waits, patients sitting in corridors and infection risks in Welsh Hospital
Commenting on a report by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) regarding a struggling Emergency Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd in North Wales, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, Russell George MS said:
“This report has highlighted the issue at the heart of our Labour-run Welsh NHS. Patients were keen to praise the committed and kind healthcare staff but lamented the long waits and the harm those delays are causing.
“The Labour Health Minister needs to take note of Healthcare Inspectorate Wales’ findings and ensure that the Labour Welsh Government prioritises cutting Welsh NHS waits which remain the longest on record and higher than Conservative-run England’s.”
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales, Darren Millar MS added:
“This report paints a picture of the dire situation all too common in North Wales’ hospitals that is sadly becoming normalised by the Labour Welsh Government, with long waits for medical reviews, patients sitting in corridors, patient dignity sacrificed and increased infection risks.
