Local culvert improvement scheme to begin in Mountain Ash
Work will begin next week to improve the capacity and performance of the culvert inlet at Campbell Terrace in Mountain Ash – requiring a local road closure.
The Council will start the scheme from Monday, November 6, with the improvements being delivered over the next four weeks.
The scheme is designed to increase the overall hydraulic performance of the culvert inlet during storm events, to alleviate the risk of flooding in the community.
A small section of Campbell Terrace will be temporarily closed during the works – between Jeffrey Street and Austin Street.
An alternative route for motorists and cyclists is available via Austin Street, Granville Terrace, Allen Street and Jeffrey Street.
Access will not be maintained for emergency services nor pedestrians, but will be maintained for residents to access premises within the closure area.
The signposted alternative route for pedestrians will be via Campbell Terrace and Dyffryn Road (using the side lane between these streets), then proceeding on Dyffryn Road to the opposite side of the closure at Jeffrey Street.
The scheme is being funded through a 2023/24 programme to carry out repairs following Storm Dennis, which is wholly funded by Welsh Government and is funded by taxpayers.
Thanks to the community in advance for your cooperation.
