Healthcare Inspections Show Welsh Labour’s Failings
The Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) inspection for Hillview Hospital in Ebbw Vale was designated as a ‘Service of Concern’ in line with HIW’s Escalation and Enforcement process. Subsequently, the service’s registration was suspended and adolescent mental health services are no longer provided there.
Commenting on the inspection report, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, Russell George MS said:
“It is incredibly concerning that these failures have been identified as a result of the inspection. I commend the HIW for taking the appropriate action to ensure the safety issues are no longer ongoing.
“Labour’s focus must now be on ensuring the facility can address the issues raised and is able to reapply for registration, to ensure the best level of care is available for future patients of Hillview Hospital.
“Labour need to keep a close eye on the health services in Wales and pay attention to these reports. If these reports are ignored, the next Betsi Cadwaladr catastrophe could be around the corner.”
