Another Hospital same problem maternity failings due to Labour’s NHS staffing crisis

Commenting on a University Hospital of Wales Maternity Unit inspection report by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, Russell George MS said:

“Patients deserve to receive safe and timely care in Wales’ maternity wards, but the picture painted by the inspectors visiting the University Hospital of Wales falls short of the basic standards expected.

Welsh NHS under the stewardship of Labour for the last 25 years.

“Dirty treatment areas, a lack of dignity for patients and low staff morale are problems that can all be traced back to one major issue highlighted in this report – low staffing levels across our Welsh NHS under the stewardship of Labour for the last 25 years.

“The Welsh Conservatives have long called for a comprehensive recruitment and retention plan, including a tuition fee refund for healthcare workers who stay and work in Wales after their studies. Labour’s NHS staffing crisis cannot go on.”
