The 2026 Gower Walking Festival has officially been launched with the release of tickets. An annual celebration of Gower, the programme is designed to encourage people to appreciate the area’s unique landscape and rich heritage while enjoying the many benefits of walking.
This year, the festival will run from Saturday, September 5, to Sunday, September 13, and tickets are now available from www.gowerwalkingfestival.uk.
Now in its 22nd year, the GWF has set out to offer a diverse and sustainable programme of walking events, with minimal environmental impact, to educate and sometimes challenge all who take part. This year will be no different with more than 30 guided walks in and around the Gower Peninsula.
The 2026 version hopes to receive more participants than ever, with an increasing number of locals recognising that there is more to Gower than just the familiar favourites and with more visitors drawn to the area with its well deserved Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty status. With a combination of walks for all abilities, increased desire for a variety of walks, a rise in popularity for a staycation, along with more people recognising the health benefits of walking, this year’s festival is expected to attract up to 500 participants.
Linda Welch, GWF organising committee chair, said: “As always, we will celebrate all of Gower, and its surrounding area, with walks along the seafront to more ‘off the beaten track’ hikes. You’ll be able to discover the coastlines, flora and fauna, industrial history and be introduced to people from the past who helped to put Swansea on the map!
“New walks have been introduced, including one for your vocal chords, not just your boots, as you discover native woodland, as well as a beach clean, which presents a chance for everybody to show gratitude for all Gower offers us.
“So our message is boot up, revisit beaches, see Gower from a different perspective and experience it like never before.”
The dedicated GWF team of volunteers wants to show off all the area has to offer over nine magical days.
