UK Government orders review of low-traffic Neighbourhoods

Commenting on the news that Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has ordered a review of low-traffic neighbourhoods to support motorists, Welsh Conservative Shadow Transport Minister, Natasha Asghar MS said:

Most people use their cars to get around and depend on them.

“The vast majority of people use their cars to get around and are dependent on them. With Prime Minister Rishi Sunak ordering a review of local traffic neighbourhoods, it’s clear that the UK Conservative Government is on the side of motorists, whilst being committed to seeing a reduction in air pollution. However, lowering speed limits, introducing congestion charges, and as seen with the introduction of ULEZ in London, there is no proof that these measures will make a substantial change in pollution levels.

Welsh Labour Government are not on the side of motorists.

“Yet here in Wales, the Labour Government are not on the side of motorists. With 20mph speed limits being imposed and costing the Welsh economy £4.5bn, a ban on road building, and rumoured congestion charges, the Labour Government continues to hold the people of Wales back.

“With Labour’s anti-car, anti-worker and anti-growth agenda slowing Wales down, they need to take some tips from the UK Conservative Government on how to support motorists and get people moving.”
