Promote ethical tourism instead of taxing the sector

Commenting on the news that ‘Fairbnb’ has opened its first three stays in Wales to rival the Airbnb sector, Welsh Conservative Shadow Tourism Minister, Tom Giffard MS said:

“It’s fantastic to see local businesses devising their own innovative plans to support local communities.

Welsh Labour and Plaid Cymru

“This stands in stark contrast to Welsh Labour and Plaid Cymru’s top-down anti-tourism agenda. Instead of listening to and working with local operators, they are continuing to push their overwhelmingly opposed plans for toxic tourism taxes and soul-crushing self-catering let rule changes, sending council tax bills through the roof for hardworking Welsh businesspeople.

“In our Welsh Conservative Alternative Tourism Strategy, launched this week, I outlined key steps to promote speciality tourism offers I know many will travel far and wide to take advantage of ethical tourism opportunities.”
