3,000 children are currently in temporary accommodation and 40 homes owned by Welsh Labour are left empty Why?

Following a written question from the Welsh Conservatives, it has been revealed that 40 Labour Government-owned homes are currently left empty in Wales.

Commenting on this news, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Housing, Janet Finch-Saunders MS said:

“It is scandalous that the Labour Government has around 40 empty homes in Wales, when there are thousands of families including more than 3,000 children currently in temporary accommodation. Labour’s housing crisis in Wales is caused by their own failure, and they continue to exacerbate this.

Labour must do more to assist the most vulnerable in our society

“Labour must do more to assist the most vulnerable in our society and utilise the 40 empty homes as soon as possible.

“The Labour Government in Wales can put on a show of compassion in the Senedd about individuals crossing the channel in small boats, but with over 3,000 vulnerable children in Wales being let down, it’s time for Labour to revaluate their priorities and get the homes they own in order.”
