Labour’s aviation plans crashed and burned

Labour’s aviation plans crashed and burned

The Welsh Conservatives have raised concerns surrounding the management of Swansea Airport following the news that it has had its licence suspended again.

Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Transport, Natasha Asghar MS said:

“I recently visited Swansea Airport and saw first-hand the dire and neglected state that it’s in.

“Under Labour’s watch, Wales aviation market has been in freefall. Whether it be at a council or ministerial level – it is clear that Labour cannot effectively manage our airports.

“Labour representatives must seriously rethink how to run the aviation industry is run in Wales, ensuring long term viability and opportunities for growth.”

Also commenting, Welsh Conservatives Member for South Wales West, Tom Giffard MS said:

“I’m deeply disappointed to see the airport in its’ current state, as it is a place close to my heart, as well as the hearts of many across Swansea and South West Wales.

“This airport has the potential to flourish and grow, but it is clear that it isn’t happening presently.

“We need to see joined-up thinking from Swansea Council, Welsh Government and any potential management structure going forward so that we can see it thrive.”
