Trip to the GE Aviation in South Wales STEM Engineering
Engineering and Design Technology within Aberdare Community School held a trip to the GE Aviation in South Wales to undergo a STEM workshop for the day. GE Aviation offered a unique one-day event to give girls in year 9 the opportunity to develop an interest into Engineering. Students witnessed industry-standard design tools to develop their knowledge of using schematic capture tools, along with developing software in order to give them a real insight into the world of Engineering in South Wales. The day also featured a talk by an inspirational female role model and also involved hands on activities to encourage female pupils to take STEM subjects and Engineering at GCSE. The 15 year 9 pupils worked extremely hard, and represented the school brilliantly, thoroughly enjoying the day.
