Cardiff Airport and Gilestone Farm but unaffordable pay offers for our teachers and NHS staff in Wales.

Commenting on his exchange in the Senedd today during questions to the Minister for Finance, Welsh Conservative Shadow Finance Minister, Peter Fox MS said:

“Today I asked the Labour Minister for Finance for some clarity on where the money was coming from to put forward new, supposedly unaffordable pay offers for our teachers and NHS staff in Wales. She admitted that they will need to draw down on all of the Labour Government’s reserves.

“In a similar vein, I also asked about Cardiff Airport and Gilestone Farm and whether mistakes were made there. It is clear that Labour repeatedly fail to consider the opportunity costs of their policies.

“I am disappointed that the Minister failed to regret any of these decisions, which represent clear examples of the Labour Government’s poor financial decision making.”

£225 million has been spent propping up Cardiff Airport, the value of which has plummeted by two thirds on Labour’s watch.

Audit Wales have raised concerns over the £4.25 million cost to the taxpayer of Labour’s decision to buy Gilestone Farm for Green Man, without a full business plan.
