Senedd report: Transport for Wales not good enough
Responding to the Senedd Committee’s report on ‘Rail Services and Transport for Wales’ Performance’, Natasha Asghar MS, Shadow Transport Minister, said:
“This damning report says it all, after Labour’s infrastructure investment has ballooned to more than £1billion, the performance from TfW simply hasn’t been good enough.
“With TfW also being bailed out by the Labour Government for falling passenger numbers to the tune of £125 million, it is about time that Welsh taxpayers’ see a return on their investment.
“The Welsh Government must take on board the report’s recommendations and get on with delivering a transport infrastructure that hard working Welsh commuters deserve.”
How many times have Transport for Wales contractors changed the access gate operation to this rail crossing have the Welsh Government got an open checkbook for contractors working on the Metro rail infrastructure?
TFW would like to clarify previous communication issued to the community around the features of the upgraded Cwmbach level crossing.
We previously stated that we’d installed a pedestrian traffic light system at the crossing as part of the numerous new safety features. However, we’ve had a delay in sourcing the spare parts for this system (needed for contingency). To enable us to reopen the crossing as swiftly as possible for the community, we’ve taken the decision to reduce the speed of the trains in the area to allow us to re-open the crossing with an equivalent level of safety achieved through the more traditional ‘stop, look and listen’ system in place. This system is similar to those used at other level crossings on our infrastructure.
