Your readers may be interested to learn that recently, the Trustees of the Michael Sobell
Welsh People’s Charitable Association have made donations to support the good work of
the Aberdare Branch of Save the Children (Chairperson is Shirley Fleming) and to Llwydcoed
Community Group. You may wish to include the attached photographs in your newspaper.
The Charity was established many years ago with an initial donation from Sir Michael Sobell,
whose factory, Sobells, employed many people on the Rhigos Estate. Sir Michael Sobell also
donated money to help build the Michael Sobell Sports Centre on the Ynys Fields.
The Charity is able to make modest grants to registered charitable organisations in the RCT
area and throughout Wales.
