Welsh Labour allowing Wales NHS to deteriorate but have they a solution? Is it to increase the number of Senedd members from 60 to either 90 or 100 would this be the solution to the lack of doctor’s and nurses?
HIW report says NHS Wales under “intense pressure” – Welsh Conservative response
Responding to the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales report that found the Labour-run NHS is under “intense pressure”, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister Russell George MS said:
“The devastating consequences of the cost-of-pain crisis is obvious to anyone spending a day distressed in A&E, wasting a morning trying to get a GP appointment, or waiting hours for an ambulance – and this report confirms it.
“Wales’ backlog for NHS treatment is lengthier than its ever been – with 60,000 patients waiting over two years – and this year has seen the longest A&E and ambulance waits times on record. So I would go further than HIW and say, like social care, the Labour-run NHS is in crisis too.
“We have long said that rapid diagnostic centres and regional surgical pubs are essential components to improving the NHS for the benefit of patients and staff alike, and we see tangible improvements in England right now because of them.
“Labour needs to get a grip on the NHS and stop breaking all the wrong records.”
Independent regulator HIW carried out more than 200 inspections and examined 500 concerns from the public and staff in the 12 months to March. The report comes as NHS leaders have said there was a "national emergency" in health and social care in Wales.
