Welsh Conservatives call for immediate action on flooding events
Following the Section 19 report by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council on the flooding in Pentre in February 2020, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Climate Change has called for immediate action on flooding incidents and the creation of a National Flood Agency for Wales.
Commenting, Janet Finch-Saunders MS said:
“Residents shouldn’t have to wait eighteen months to find out what officially caused the flooding of their homes. Every night of heavy rain, people are sat nervously waiting to see if the horrific events happen again.
“That is why we need a National Flood Agency to take immediate action to ensure that the clean-up of flooding events takes place and that the cause of the flooding it identified and tackled as quickly as possible.
“The report clearly shows that Welsh Government and National Resources Wales were at fault last year and if I were in the Welsh Government, I would be issuing a public apology and arranging much needed financial support for local people affected.”
