Ask CERi – a virtual way to get your COVID-19 queries answered

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has launched CERi.

CERi is a virtual agent (virtual artificial intelligence system) that can be used to answer Coronavirus queries from any digital device.

CERi will answer anything on your mind, questions around mentally and physically healthy throughout the pandemic to coping with isolation. CERi also uses the Welsh Ambulance Service Symptom Checker which means that if you have any symptoms, you can check them against clinically approved information.

How does Ceri Work?

CERi will listen to your individual questions and provide answers and general advice from many trusted sources. As CERi responds to common questions about COVID-19, it will continue to enhance its knowledge-base as it learns from the interactions it has with patients, staff and the general public.

Kelechi Nnoaham, Director of Public Health said:

“As Wales attempts to ease out of lockdown safely, we understand that national guidance changes weekly. These responsive changes to lockdown rules are necessary to allow us to adapt to new ways of living and resume some form of normality however, these changes can be difficult to follow and it can be hard to know whether you’re following the most current advice. CERi will be kept up to date with recent developments and advice from Welsh Government, and other trusted sources, to allow you to access information from many platforms in one quick chat.

“As a Health Board, we know that many people are finding this a very worrying time and feeling scared and anxious. CERi is here to provide information 24/7. It will answer your questions day or night and give you peace of mind that you are getting the right advice and information, which in turn may help to ease your mind.

“This virtual agent demonstrates how technology is being employed by the Health Board to further enhance the excellent work already being carried out by our healthcare professionals.”

How can I access CERi?

It’s super easy, CERi can be easily accessed on phones, tablets and computers.

Who can use CERi?

It is available to anyone living in Cwm Taf Morgannwg who has access to a digital device and who has a COVID-19 query – staff, patients and members of the public.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is leading the way in this pilot of CERi. Virtual agents like CERi are becoming increasingly more popular in healthcare and we have worked with external partners to develop CERi at pace to ensure relevant information about Coronavirus is easy to access as we navigate this pandemic.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg has worked with IBM and Meridian IT (IBM Platinum Business Partner) to develop CERi.
