Essential Welsh Water works to take place at Miskin Road Mountain Ash

Welsh Water will carry out essential works as part of the Mountain Ash Cross Valley Link scheme – requiring a necessary lane closure at the B4275 junction with Miskin Road.

The Cross Valley Link will provide a new road from Cwm Cynon Industrial Estate over the river and Aberdare-Cardiff railway line, linking to Miskin Road. The construction of a 60-metre road bridge will begin this summer, and is planned to be completed in winter 2019/20, providing a key link for traffic on the A4059 and B4275 and improving traffic flow on the wider A4059 corridor.

The scheme has made excellent progress recently, with the main construction phase underway following significant improvements to the A4059 junction.

Welsh Water’s upcoming works will isolate an existing water main at Miskin Road, capping it at Glyngwyn Street. The works will allow the Council’s contractor for the Cross Valley Link scheme to safely remove the water main in the next part of the project, enabling road improvements at Miskin Road.

The works are scheduled to last four days – beginning on Monday, July 30, and ending on Thursday, August 2, which will require a localised lane closure on the southbound section of the B4275, near the Mount Pleasant Hotel.

Temporary traffic management will be required in the area, and motorists are advised to factor in additional time for their journeys, or use an alternative route where possible. The Council would like to thank residents in advance for their cooperation while these essential works take place.
