Commenting on reports that the new £1.25bn electric arc furnace in Port Talbot may be delayed by eight months due to connectivity issues, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy, said:
“It is deeply concerning that National Grid delays could hold up Tata Steel’s £1.25billion electric arc furnace in Port Talbot, a vital investment for the future of Welsh steelmaking, jobs and economic growth.
“National Grid and the UK Government must urgently work together to resolve these connectivity issues and ensure this strategically important project is delivered without further delay.”
