Hollywood Actor Michael Sheen supports Velindre Cancer Centre’s Cookbook
Welsh born Hollywood actor Michael Sheen has written the foreword of a new charity cookbook raising money for Velindre Cancer Center in Cardiff.
Velindre NHS Trust have developed a cookbook in partnership with patients and families of their favourite recipes, focusing on positive memories of treats, meals and celebrations.
The book also has the support of 9 Wales based Chefs, including award winning and Michelin star restaurants. The recipes have been tried and tested by the students from the Nant Resturant at Coleg Y Cymoedd Nantgarw Campus.
Velindre Cancer Centre’s Patron, comedian Rhod Gilbert helped reach out to Michael and ask for his support.
Michael response was:
“I heard about the work of Velindre from Rhod Gilbert and given my accolade as winner of Celebrity Bake Off what could be better than to endorse a cook book! I have seen the impact cancer has on the lives of individuals and their families and anything we can do to make the battle that little bit easier is surely a good thing. The Velindre Cancer Centre cookbook idea is such a great idea and I hope it reminds families not only of the many great memories they’ve had together, but gives them an opportunity to create many more. “

The Cookbook will go on sale on the 5th July for £10, to mark the 70th Anniversary of the NHS.
