Maerdy Mountain Road additional surfacing works

Maerdy Mountain Road will close between 7am and 4pm on Sunday, December 3, for additional surfacing works, associated with the major highways improvements completed over the summer.

This multi-million pound Council investment saw the stabilisation of the mountain route following a landslip at the Aberdare end of the road in December 2015, together with full road re-surfacing, repair and replacement of dry stone retaining walls and drainage works.

The scheme also incorporated road safety improvements funded by Welsh Government Road Safety Grant.

During the road closure an alternative route for motorists will be clearly signposted.

Access will not be maintained for emergency service vehicles.

Arrangements have been made for connections to be made at Tonypandy Bus Station for passengers using the 172 Aberdare-Porthcawl bus service.
