Children in Wales Policy Director elected to Eurochild management board
Sean O’Neill, Policy Director at Children in Wales, has been elected to the management board of Eurochild at the recent General Assembly.
Eurochild is a network of organisations and individuals working in and across Europe to promote the rights and well-being of children and young people.
Children in Wales were represented at the Assembly which took place in Brussels in May alongside other National Partner Umbrella Networks and a delegation of young people which included a representative from our Young Wales project.
The meeting provided an opportunity to engage with the young people who had developed the new Children’s Participation Strategy. The Strategy sets out a series of steps towards increasing the meaningful involvement of children and young people across Europe in the programme of work for the organisation.
Sean O’Neill, who attended the meeting on behalf of Children in Wales, was elected to the Eurochild Management Board through a secret ballot, and will take up this role with immediate effect. Responding to the new opportunity presented, Sean said:
“Europe and the world is changing and Eurochild has had to adapt to the changing landscape to help ensure that children remain at the heart of Europe. I am delighted to be elected to the Board and would like to thank the membership for their support and encouragement.”
