Newydd retains Gold title

Newydd, a housing association with properties across Rhondda Cynon Taff, has retained the Investors in People Gold Award following an intensive new assessment process by the international organisation of the same name.

Investors in People is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results.

Five years ago Newydd, with nearly 100 staff and 3,000 homes, gained the prestigious Gold Award for the first time. However, retaining the Gold standard is no mean feat due to the introduction of a new and more challenging assessment process, aimed at driving standards across workplaces.

Newydd achieved key outcomes from the investigation with 90% of staff saying they feel trusted to make decisions and 90% agreed that Newydd is a great place to work with a bright future.

Underpinning the Investors in People standard is the framework, reflecting the latest workplace trends, essential skills and effective structures required to outperform in any industry. Investors in People enables organisations to benchmark against the best in the business on an international scale.

Paul Devoy, Head of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate Newydd, Investors in People accreditation is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to success. Newydd should be extremely proud of their achievement.”

Paul Roberts, Chief Executive of Newydd, said, “We are over the moon, retaining this award means a lot to us. We work hard to ensure that our staff enjoy coming to work and get the support to perform to the best of their ability. We knew the framework was going to be a real challenge this year, there is no guarantee that the standard is awarded so we are delighted to have reached Gold once more. We feel that retaining this award proves that Newydd is a great place to work and hope that this will encourage people to join the organisation and apply for our vacancies. We certainly work above and beyond to make sure our staff feel valued in the workplace.”
