Officers were called to an incident in Aberaman, Aberdare at around 00.35am on Saturday 30th April following an assault.
It is believed that two men carried out the assault on the 44 year old victim.
The assault took place on Cardiff Road.
The man was taken by ambulance to Prince Charles Hospital with injuries to his face and head.
Officers are investigating and are urging anyone with who witnessed the incident, or anyone who has any information, to call them on 101 quoting reference number 1600153353.
