Are Labour run Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Taxpayers subsidising Britain’s biggest house builders?

FTSE 100-listed housebuilder Persimmon is lifting its cash return to shareholders after enjoying a 34 per cent jump in annual profits to £637.8million last year thanks to strong demand from buyers.

Controversial planning for development by Persimmon Homes Coed Dyffryn on the on the Tir founder Fields floodplains at Cwmbach where the ground levels were increased in height to accommodate the Persimmon Homes development.

Persimmon was responsible for work on the Asda Roundabout because of increased traffic flows from the new development.

Now Rhondda Cynon Taf Council are amending the roundabout on the A4059 the Asda Roundabout, they intend to widen the left lane travelling north from Cwmbach Roundabout at a cost to Council Taxpayers the sum of £100,000.

Because the ground levels were increased in height at Tir founder Field to facilitate the development the PROW from Aberaman to Cwmbach suffered by flooding more frequently, not helped by drainage holes under the PROW were blocked by the earth bund constructed by the developer. Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Taxpayers now have to fund the “Locally Raise Footpath (PROW) to reduce frequency of flooding £35,000” Should that £35,000 of council taxpayers money come from the developer?

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Taxpayers are paying £10,000 for Reinstate the existing embankment to improve water retention within bank before overtopping also at Tir founder Field, Cwmbach.

Floodwater has to run somewhere; if you stop it in one part it will find the lowest point. The only railway line runs along side the development it has flooded in the past and the Aberdare Canal culvert and watercourse is inadequate to cope with floodwater unless Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Natural Resources Wales spend some serous money on flood prevention.
