Beca Cooks Up Christmas With Aberdare Families
Bake Off and Becws chef serves up festive treat with Go4It! families
The Christmas countdown began when families had fun together, learning to make easy Christmas dishes with the help of TV chef Beca.
Cardiff-born TV chef Beca Lyne-Pirkis joined families in Abercwmboi, near Aberdare in south Wales.
Beca demonstrated her Rudolph’s Treats cookies to families who are enjoying cooking together at the Lottery funded Go4It! project.
Beca has gone from Great British Bake Off finalist to hosting the second series of her own cookery programme Becws (Bakehouse), on air now on S4C.
Beca Lyne-Pirkis said:
“Cooking together is great fun for families, and can be easier than you think. It was lovely to meet them, and to share tips about cooking for kids.
“Go4It! is a wonderful project, helping families improve their health together, and it’s just one example of healthy living projects around the country which National Lottery players help fund.”
National Lottery funding through Sport Wales, with Families First, has helped RCT Homes’ Go4It! project to support over 300 families across Rhondda Cynon Taf to try new activities, increase exercise, improve their health and wellbeing, and cook and eat better together.
Laura Perry, Co-ordinator of Go4It!, said:
“Our healthy cooking classes are just one of the ways in which we’re helping local families get healthier and happier together, from stress busting to sports, activities and awaydays, all based around individual family needs.
“We work with a wide range of partners to deliver activities, including Cooking Together Wales, who run these healthy cooking classes, and Lottery funding has made a huge difference.”
