A £14,245 “FINE” DAY FOR RCT LITTER LOUTS!
Stark warning to litter-louts, fly tippers and dirty dog owners as 38 offenders walk away with a combined fine of £14,245 – that’s an average fine of £374!
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is taking firm action against anyone found littering, fly tipping or allowing their dog to foul in a public place and failing to clean it up – 27 people who faced court action for failing to pay their initial £75 Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) walked away with a fine of £560 each!
Dog fouling, litter – including cigarette butts – flyposting, flytipping, graffiti and other waste issues continue to be priority issues for the communities of Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Council’s Streetcare Service has responded to that public demand by ensuring that the offenders that are caught red handed are dealt with!
Since April 2014 2268 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) have been issued to individuals who committed offences, which include, dog fouling, fly tipping, littering and cigarette butts. This has resulted in offenders coughing up £170,100 which could have been avoided if they had simply used the bins and dogs’ waste bins provided by the Council.
During the same period the Council’s Enforcement Wardens issued 4133 warning letters in a bid to encourage residents to learn the error of their ways and think twice before they commit an offence!
All the revenue generated from the FPNs is invested back in frontline services, to further improve our County Borough and respond to the priority issues our residents have identified.
The Council’s dedicated Streetcare Enforcement Wardens are out in force on foot, bikes and in cars across the County Borough ready to catch offenders, as many offenders are now finding out.
Anyone suspected of committing an offence in the County Borough could be dealt a £75 FPN or worse if they fail to pay the FPN, including a criminal record.
The Enforcement Wardens continue a comprehensive crackdown on all waste issues throughout the County Borough. This is to ensure that Rhondda Cynon Taf will be a clean, green and safe community for everyone to live, work and visit.

The latest results from the courts show that we are not the only ones who take this seriously and acts as a clear message to offenders, that this behaviour won’t be tolerated in our County Borough.”
