C4C kicks off Halloween celebrations with spooky community events

Halloween celebrations are underway in Cwmdare after local community group, Cwmdare4Cwmdare (C4C), received funding from Pennant Walters to bring children and families together for a spook-tacular string of activities.

Halloween in the village kicked off on Friday with a Halloween disco, whilst pumpkin carving is planned for Wednesday (28 October) this week, giving youngsters the chance to get into the spirit of the season.

Funding from local energy company, Pennant Walters, has helped C4C deliver the events, creating an opportunity for families to enjoy some Halloween fun together.

Cllr. Ann Crimmings, Secretary of C4C, said:

“We always look forward to this time of year, and Friday’s event was no exception – it kicked off Halloween in the village superbly, and gave local children and their families something fun to look forward to.

“With the disco and pumpkin carving, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved and enjoy the celebrations. We’re very grateful to Pennant Walters for its continued support, which helps us put on events that bring the community together.”

The funding comes through Pennant Walters’ community fund linked to its nine-turbine, 22MW Mynydd Bwllfa wind farm near Aberdare, which became operational in 2015. The fund supports community groups and initiatives in the areas surrounding the company’s renewable energy projects.

Dale Hart, Managing Director of Pennant Walters, said:

“We’re pleased to support C4C and the work it does year-round to bring people together in Cwmdare.

“Halloween is a great opportunity for communities to come together, and we hope the disco and pumpkin carving help get the village celebrations off to a fantastic start.”
