Nothing quite beats that feeling of ticking something off your ‘to do’ list. This is why RNIB Cymru and Optometry Wales want to remind your readers to book their regular eye test this week, during National Eye Health Week (taking place from 21 to 27 of September).
One in five of us will experience sight loss in our lifetime, but did you know that around 50 per cent of sight loss is avoidable?
Optometrists are the best place to start with any concern and will refer you to other services, like emergency eye care or hospital eye care teams whenever necessary.
Though we encourage everyone to attend their regular eye test it is especially important if you’re having problems with your vision or have increased risk of developing an eye condition. Don’t put this off or hope that problems will resolve in their own time.
You might even be entitled to a free eye test, so check this with your optometrist.
So go ahead and book your eye test. Not only will you get the joy of having ticked a task off your list, but you will also know that you’re taking the most important step to protecting your eyes.
Best Wishes
