The First Minister must focus on improving standards in schools and hospitals and stop constitutional grandstanding, according to the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives.
Speaking in the Senedd Chamber, Darren Millar MS, told the First Minister to focus on the job he was elected to do.
Yesterday, Rhun ap Iorwerth signed an agreement with the Leaders of Sinn Fein and the SNP committing them to joint working on their constitutional demands to the UK Government.
Darren Millar MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, said, “While Plaid Cymru are busy plotting with Sinn Fein and the SNP to break up the UK, Welsh patients continue to contend with unacceptable levels of care in the Welsh NHS.
“Only last week a scathing report into A&E at Glan Clwyd Hospital was published by HIW alleging out of date medicines, equipment not working and children being left unattended on paediatric wards. Patients are waiting too long, often on trolleys or uncomfortable plastic chairs due to a lack of beds.
“Last week’s PISA rankings show all three devolved nations, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland falling down the international league table, with Wales getting the lowest scores of any part of the UK.
“The declaration to co-operate with the SNP and Sinn Fein makes no mention of working together on raising standards in public services.
“Growing the economy and raising standards in schools and hospitals must be the First Minister’s top priority, not working with Sinn Fein and the SNP to break up the United Kingdom.
“The people of Wales do not want Welsh independence, but want to see long-awaited improvements in schools and hospitals. Plaid Cymru ministers must get on with the job they were elected to do.”
