Howzat! Aberdare Cricket Club secures £2,000 boost for senior team

Aberdare Cricket Club is proud to unveil a brand-new senior team kit, thanks to receiving £2,000 in funding from local energy company, Pennant Walters.

The funding has enabled the club’s senior side to take to the field in a fully updated playing strip, providing a welcome boost for players as they prepare for the upcoming season.

The funding from Pennant Walters reflects the continued support for community sport in the Aberdare area, helping to reduce costs for players while strengthening the club’s ability to compete and grow.

David Smith, Chairman at Aberdare Cricket Club, welcomed the funding, and said:

“We are extremely grateful to have received this support. The new kit makes a huge difference to our senior side, not just in terms of appearance, but also in building confidence and a sense of togetherness within the team.

“Funding like this plays a vital role in grassroots cricket, helping to ease the financial burden on players and ensuring the club can continue to thrive.”

The players showcased their new kit at their first training session, marking an exciting step forward ahead of the new season and reinforcing a strong sense of identity within the squad.

Aberdare Cricket Club continues to play an important role in the local community, providing opportunities for players of all ages to take part in cricket and stay active in a welcoming environment.

This latest funding will help ensure the club is well-equipped for the season ahead, both on and off the field.

The funding from Pennant Walters is linked to Pennant Walters’ 9 turbine 22 MW Mynydd Bwllfa windfarm near Aberdare in Rhondda Cynon Taf, which became operational in summer 2015. It builds on previous donations which have seen the company provide money to support various local community groups.
