Cambrian RFC is continuing its journey to improve facilities and support players of all ages, thanks to ongoing backing from local energy company Pennant Walters.
Building on funding in 2024, which allowed the Club to transform its kitchen area and establish a physiotherapy room, the latest support has enabled further enhancements that will benefit every team, from mini and junior squads through to the senior sides.
The funding has allowed Cambrian RFC to provide new kit for every player, alongside essential training equipment, including post protector pads, corner flags, tackle shields, and tackle bags. These improvements not only ensure a safer and more effective training environment but also enhance the overall playing experience for all members.
The money has also contributed to further extending the physiotherapy room and purchasing additional items to support player development and wellbeing across the Club.
Steve Thomas, Secretary of Cambrian RFC, said:
“We are extremely grateful to Pennant Walters for their ongoing support. Their funding has allowed us to give our players high-quality kit and training equipment, which makes a real difference to their enjoyment and safety on the pitch.
“With continued support, we are extending our physiotherapy facilities, which allows us to keep improving the experience for everyone at the Club.”
The funding was provided by Pennant Walters from a fund linked to two wind farms in the Gilfach Goch and Blackmill areas, Pant y Wal in the county of Bridgend, and Fforch Nest, which straddles the border of Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taf. The two sites have a total of 21 turbines producing 53 megawatts of clean electricity—enough to power the equivalent of 25,000 homes. The support builds on previous donations, which have enabled the company to back a range of local community groups.
Pennant Walters managing director, Dale Hart, added:
“Our community funds exist to make a tangible difference to the areas where we operate.
“Supporting Cambrian RFC ensures that local players – young and senior alike – have access to safe, well-equipped facilities, and we are proud to continue backing a club that plays such an important role in the local community.”
The new kit and equipment have already been put to good use by players across all age groups, with youngsters from the mini and junior teams training in their matching gear and senior players enjoying the enhanced facilities. The Club hopes that the improvements will continue to inspire participation and strengthen the sense of community at Cambrian RFC, where rugby is at the heart of local sporting life.
