The Welsh Conservatives have accused Plaid Cymru Leader Rhun ap Iorwerth of being “in denial and out of touch” about the reality of illegal immigration.
Earlier this month, the Plaid Leader claimed there is “no such thing” as illegal immigration but it reports this week confirmed that there had been arrests of illegal immigrants, including at the port of Holyhead, in the Plaid leader’s own constituency.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Leader Darren Millar MS said:
“Politicians who deny that illegal immigration exists are in denial and out of touch.
“Every pound that is spent on services for illegal immigrants is a pound that cannot be spent on public services here in Wales.
“In order to fix a problem you first need to acknowledge that it exists.
“We need politicians in all parts of the UK who will work together to protect our borders, deport foreign criminals, and keep our citizens safe.”

Open borders enthusiast and Plaid leader @RhunapIorwerth has said there's "no such thing as illegal immigration". His fellow panellist had to tell him to "get in the real world". Plaid is an anti-Wales party. pic.twitter.com/FOFGtGwjxH
