I have a memory of visiting an Army Exhibition in the Drill Hall Aberdare..2…attending selection for the children’s choir being formed in Newtown Mt.Ash
to celebrate the Queen Elizabeth’s visit to the Eisteddfod in Mountain Ash.
I was not selected.
3 I can just remember being taken to see a statue of a Male Choir Conductor in Aberdare and being told that he was a distant relative.
4When on a walk along the ..New Road with Dad
I remember him being told by a Police party that there had been a Knife Murder in Aberdare Park and 5. going on a Phillips Bus to Mountain Ash to collect new Ration Books.
One Sunday I was attending ..Sunday School in the
Mission Chapel at the end of Lock St.Glancynon
when the service was interrupted by Soldiers and Policemen and that Mr.Saunders was to arrange that us kids be escorted home as they were searching for the German POW’s that had escaped from a Camp in Bridgend.
And finally..6..I remember going to see the chunk of rock in the roof of Ysgol Ganol that had landed there from a …misfire..at the Quarry above.
It was rumoured that the rock was above the Headmasters room……where earlier I had had ..the cane ?
What memories.
