Welsh Government’s Business Manager has blocked the ability of the Covid-19 Special Purposes Committee to call witnesses under oath. The Welsh Labour Government open and accountable?
From the Welsh Labours manifesto “Labour has been transformed from a party of protest to one that always puts the interests of the country first. Now we are determined to do the same with our politics, returning government to the service of working people. This will require a reset in our public life; a clean-up that ensures the highest standards of integrity and honesty. We will make sure MPs focus on serving their constituents.”
At First Minister’s Questions (FMQs) today, the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives challenged the First Minister to explain the reasoning behind the Welsh Labour Government’s Business Manager’s decision to block the ability of the Covid-19 Special Purposes Committee to compel witnesses to submit accounts under oath.
The Welsh Conservatives remain in favour of a full, independent, Wales-specific Covid Inquiry. Labour’s First Minister repeated their opposition to this call again today.
Commenting after his exchange with the First Minister, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar MS said:
“It is a frankly shocking disappointment that the Welsh Government’s Business Manager has blocked the ability of the Covid-19 Special Purposes Committee to call witnesses under oath.
“This decision will further reduce public confidence in the Welsh Government’s ability to provide the answers that bereaved families and the people of Wales deserve.
“To learn the lessons of the pandemic, we need a Wales-specific Covid Inquiry, but in its absence, it is vital that the Senedd Committee established in its place must be able to take evidence under oath to give the public confidence it its proceedings so we can get to the truth about what happened.”
Parliamentary Labour block Council Election votes for 5,000,000 people. Senedd Labour block giving evidence under oath! Do you see what is happening here? Both Labour parties have deep concerns about the people knowing the truth & expecting democracy! Very similar to the Communist philosophy!
Are the Welsh government above the law I think that a vote of no confidence is needed to sort out this Mike mouse set up in Cardiff
