The first incident was reported to us just after 7.45pm yesterday evening (Monday, March 10). A 14-year-old girl was approached by two men on the footpath on Morien Crescent near the park.

The second incident was reported to us just after 11.30pm last night, where a 16-year-old girl was also approached by two men on the same footpath in the same location. No physical contact was reported.

The men are described as being black, tall, with one wearing a dark coat and the other wearing a dark hoodie. Both had their hoods up.

Enquiries are currently being conducted into both incidents including house to house enquiries and the reviewing of ring doorbell footage from homes within the area.

Neighbourhood Inspector Leigh Parfitt said:

“Incidents of this nature are rare, and no physical contact was reported, nonetheless I completely understand the concern it has caused the community of Rhydyfelin, and over social media, in relation to these incidents.
“We are taking these incidents seriously and officers are continuing with their enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
“I encourage anyone with concerns to contact us directly. There will be an increase in neighbourhood officers patrolling the area to provide visible reassurance.”
