The charity, which provides care and support for patients, their families and carers facing life-limiting illnesses, needed help sorting through donations and maintaining their hospice gardens.
Staff from National Grid Electricity Distribution stepped in to help put donations in order at St David’s Hospice Care depot in Cwmbran to prepare them to be sold across St David’s 36 charity shops in South East Wales.
Another volunteering day was spent weeding, planting and mowing the gardens at St David’s Hospice in Newport, which are much loved and enjoyed by the families that are cared for there.
Nick South, National Grid Electricity Distribution’s Education and STEM Manager, said: “St David’s Hospice is a great charity and with a depot right next to ours in Cwmbran, it was the perfect place for us to spend some time volunteering.
“It was a nice feeling to be able to support a charity in our local community and I think we all enjoyed getting together as a team outside of our normal working environment.”
Kris Broome, Director of Fundraising and Lottery at St David’s Hospice Care, said: “We are a charitable organisation providing comprehensive, palliative care to patients, their families and carers facing life-limiting illnesses.
“We’re grateful to National Grid Electricity Distribution staff based in Cwmbran who helped sort donations, arrange paperwork and joined in with gardening at our hospice.
“With the continued support of our local community, fundraisers, and businesses, we can ensure that St David’s Hospice Care continues to provide vital services for many years to come. Together, we can make a difference.”
