NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Rhondda Cynon Taff
County Borough Council propose to make various Orders
under Sections 1, 2, 4, 81, 82 and 84 of the Road Traffic
Regulation Act 1984 (“the 1984 Act”), and of all other enabling
powers, the effect of which will be to:

A4059 New Road / Canal Road – Mountain Ash to
Cwmbach
a. That section of the A4059 New Road from a point 53
metres north-west of its junction with Mill Road in a north
westerly direction onto Canal Road (A4059) for a distance
of approximately 1493 metres

Vary the Traffic Regulation Orders as specified in
Schedule 1
Introduce a 40mph Speed Limit on the lengths of roads
specified in Schedule 2
Introduce a 50mph Speed Limit on the lengths of roads
specified in Schedule 3

Objections to the proposal together with the grounds on which
they are made must be sent in writing to the Traffic Manager,
Floor 2, 2 Llys Cadwyn, Taff Street, Pontypridd, CF37 4TH or
by email on [email protected] by 17th January
2025.
SCHEDULE 1 – Variation
The “Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council
(A4059 Quarter Mile Bridge to Abercynon Roundabout)
Order 2007” shall be varied by the removal of Schedule 2
SCHEDULE 2 – 40mph Speed Limit
A4059 New Road, Abercynon
a. That section of the A4059 New Road, from a point 300
metres east of the junction of the A4059 and B4275 to a
point 300 metres north-west of the junction of the A4059
and B4275. A distance of approximately 600 metres
SCHEDULE 3 – 50mph Speed Limit
A4059 New Road Abercynon
a. That section of the A4059 New Road, from its junction
with the A470 roundabout in a westerly direction to a point
300 metres east of the junction of the A4059 and B4275.
A distance of approximately 1200 metres.
A472 Cross Valley Link Road – Abercynon / Treharris
(Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council)
a. That section of the A472 Cross Valley Link Road (viaduct)
from its junction with the A470 roundabout in an easterly
direction for a distance of approximately 264 metres
A4059 New Road – Abercynon to Mountain Ash
a. That section of the A4059 from a point 300 metres northwest of the junction of the A4059 and B4275 in a northwesterly direction to a point 285 metres north-west from
the centreline of the access road leading to Cwm Cynon
Business Park. A distance of approximately 2565 metres.
