South Wales Police Warning Watchout for Scams

Fraudsters are posing as police officers to trick residents out of thousands of pounds

If you receive a call from someone pretending to be a police officer, you should not give out any personal information and hang up immediately.

If you are ever unsure whether the person speaking to you is a genuine police officer, please contact us on 101 and ask to speak with that officer, any police officer would not be offended by you wishing to verify their identity.

We stress that no police officers will ever call you out of the blue asking for personal information, including bank account details. Nor would a police officer ever ask you to withdraw money; move any money from your account nor ask for your authorisation to move money from an account on your behalf.

We are urging people to share this among friends and family. Not everyone has access to the internet, so people do tell neighbours and relatives about this type of scam.

If you receive a phone call like this, please report it to us and inform Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040
