Labour MSs vote against saving winter fuel payments
Cynon Valleys MS voted with the Labour Government in the bay to keep the cut to old aged pensioners winter fuel allowance agreed by the Westminster Government party before pensioners in Cynon Valley.
Responding to Labour MSs voting against the Welsh Conservatives’ motion in the Welsh Parliament calling on the UK Labour Government to save winter fuel payments, Andrew RT Davies MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, said:
“The decision of Labour MSs to vote against saving winter fuel payments is unforgivable.”
“Labour MSs have shown they put their party interests before their constituents.”
Also commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Social Partnership and Social Justice, Joel James MS, said:
“Thanks to Labour, pensioners will go cold this winter and be forced into fuel poverty.
“Only the Welsh Conservatives are fighting to keep our pensioners warm this winter.”
A Conservative motion calling for the changes to be reversed was defeated by Labour – 23 votes for to 24 against.
