Up to £110 million denied from Welsh pensioners in Labour’s winter fuel travesty
Commenting on the Chancellor’s plans to end the Winter Fuel Payment for hundreds of thousands of Welsh pensioners, Andrew RT Davies MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives said:
“Labour in Wales is spending £120 million on 36 more politicians as the Labour UK Government hit pensioners in their pockets by up to £110 million. They have the wrong priorities.
“Unsatisfied with introducing a new retirement tax, Labour’s political decision will do nothing to tackle economic unfairness and will push vulnerable people into fuel poverty. Conservatives have always been on the side of pensioners, with landmark policies such as the triple lock.
“This decision must be reversed to safeguard Welsh pensioners against the higher energy costs that come during the winter months and give them the dignity in retirement that they deserve.”
