Labour in Wales’ toxic Council Tax rises dropped by UK Labour
Will you be voting for Labour on July 4 to raise your council tax?
The Labour-run Welsh government plans to overhaul the council tax system in Wales in 2028. Homes in Wales were revalued over the last 12-months, creating new property bands that could raise council tax for over 470,000 homes and reduce it for about 800,000 households.

Commenting on the news that after much speculation, Labour’s Jonathan Ashworth has said that ‘council tax bands will not be changed’ in England despite Keir Starmer’s “blueprint” for power, Labour-run Wales’ revaluation is set to raise bills for hundreds of thousands of residents, Peter Fox MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance and Local Government said:
“The Labour Welsh Government’s council tax plans are so toxic, they have been dropped by Keir Starmer’s tax-loving Labour party.
“Labour’s tax bombshell will mean higher bills for hundreds of thousands of residents across Wales and just last week, they voted against enshrining the single person’s discount into law
“Only the Welsh Conservatives will protect bill payers by offering local referenda for significant council tax rises. Be in no doubt, Labour wants to raise your taxes.”
