£9 billion to hit the Welsh economy is not “right”

Responding to Lee Waters’ comments on Sunday Supplement, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Transport, Natasha Asghar MS said:

“No one is going to agree that an up to £9 billion hit to the Welsh economy is right. No wonder nearly half a million people have signed a petition to scrap Labour and Plaid’s 20mph speed limit.

“It is a fact that a smaller economy means less money for our public services, especially our Welsh NHS.

“Let’s not forget this is the same Minister who admitted that Labour don’t know what they’re doing on the economy.”

Car clubs won’t work without roads

Responding to Labour’s Rural Transport Announcement, Natasha Asghar MS, Shadow Transport Minister, said:

“Whilst an investment in car clubs is welcome, how does the Deputy Minister plan to implement this when he’s banned new roads being built?

“Labour’s ludicrous road building ban will leave communities cut off and further punish motorists.

“The Welsh Conservatives would reverse Labour’s anti commuter policies and get Wales moving.”

 4tph between Cardiff and Bridgend (direct, Monday to Saturday) from December 2019.

Responding to the news that passengers experienced more than a million minutes worth of delays on Transport for Wales trains last year, Natasha Asghar MS, Shadow Transport Minister, said:

“With Labour pouring more than £1 billion into TfW, it’s high time we started seeing a return on Welsh taxpayers’ investment.

“Labour continues to fail at the most basic fundamental of operating transport in Wales, which is making sure the infrastructure is reliable.

“Whilst the Labour Government continues to punish commuters with policies such as their barmy 20mph speed limit, the Welsh Conservatives will always fight for hard working people of Wales simply trying to get from A to B.”
