1-in-5 GP practices close in a decade as “little done” by Labour Welsh Government
Commenting on the news that BMA Cymru Wales have highlighted a substantial rise in GP practice closures and that there has been “little done” by the Labour Welsh Government to boost GP numbers, Russell George MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“The BMA are right to call this a GP services crisis, Labour’s dither and delay is putting patient safety at risk.
“We still don’t have a workforce strategy to boost GP numbers, due to Labour and Plaid inaction. They would rather spend substantial sums to increase the number of politicians instead.
“The Welsh Conservatives would fully resource our Welsh NHS and enact a substantial workforce plan that would include a tuition fee refund for all healthcare workers that stay and work in Wales after their studies.”
